Cultural Notes: Any full sun to part shade position is suitable. BIG Geraniums love compost-enriched, free draining soil. They’re ideal in patio pots, hanging baskets and window boxes and work really well in mixed plantings. Trail them over retaining walls or use as a ground cover. Avoid frost! BIG Geraniums are drought tolerant plants. They'll appreciate an extra bit of water in the heat of summer and while flowers are being produced. Pot specimens will require more attention. Feed them with a small amount of a general purpose controlled release fertiliser in spring and autumn. Trim off old stems and shape plant if desired. You could also nip off spent flower stems. Not much to do really! There are a few of the expected bugs that can be attracted to these plants such as aphids or mealy bug. These are easy to control, so see your specialist nursery retailer for advice on the right product. Watch out for the fungal disease Botrytis, which can reside under old leaves, attacking new growth. Simply remove offending stems and don’t over-water the plants. Information and images are courtesy of Ramm Botanicals.
