Plantmark – one of Australia’s leading national wholesale plant nurseries – is seeking an enthusiastic Dispatch Hand to join our busy team at the main logistics hub at Wantirna.

Plantmark’s operations include seven Wholesale Trade Markets with sales and distribution in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.  Plantmark has been the largest trade supplier to the urban development, landscape and local government sectors for over thirty years and has established an outstanding reputation for excellence within the nursery industry.

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Dispatch Manager, this role encompasses a shared workload of incoming and outgoing greenlife stock. It's a hands-on role involving loading and unloading trucks, picking and packing plant material for orders.  Along with general Nursery duties including weeding, watering, grounds maintenance and using trade equipment.

The successful applicant will learn all skills involved in the day-to-day operations of a face paced inwards and outwards goods hub whilst gaining vast knowledge of wholesale growers, plants and logistics methods under the guidance of our versatile dispatch team.

The position is full time, working a five-day Monday to Friday roster.

Important attributes

To be successful as a Plantmark Dispatch Hand, you will have:

  • Reliability and a solid work ethic
  • Ability to effectively work unsupervised as well as in a team
  • Capability of following directions with attention to detail
  • A positive approach to tasks with a sense or urgency
  • Own transport
  • Plant knowledge - an advantage but not essential

Applicants must be be physically fit, also be capable of performing regular heavy lifting tasks and be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

It would be favourable if a current Forklift Licence and/or a Chemical Certificate are held.

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the State Manager and working closely with the onsite Trade Market Nursery Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of fast and accurate quotes, coordination of orders and timely dispatch of greenlife and sundry products.

Leading a team of sales and dispatch specialists, the successful incumbent will ensure that customer and supplier relationships are nurtured, Plantmark service standards are maintained and sales targets are achieved.

The position is full time working hours across Monday to Friday.

Essential attributes

The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong work ethic and a genuine enthusiasm for developing and delivering new business.  A solid work history in horticulture and confidence with leading a team to achieve sales success is essential.

Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

This newly created, dynamic role is responsible for managing the coordination of large-scale horticulture projects.  Working closely with a dedicated Projects and Tenders team, key focus areas will include stakeholder communication, contract compliance, oversight of freight activities and delivery of greenlife to project sites.

The highlights of the position are:

  • Managing the delivery of projects from contract start to finish, meeting deadlines and budgets
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure contract supply, order and dispatch requirements are clearly established and expertly activated.
  • Identifying project challenges and proactively liaising with customers to create solutions.
  • Monitoring, communicating and recording progress of contract activities.
  • Building strong customer relationships to assist with business development.
  • Travelling to project sites throughout Victoria.

Essential Experience

We would love to hear from highly-motivated and innovative individuals who are ready to grow both their career and our commercial business.  To be successful, you’ll need:

  • Experience working in the Horticulture industry and excellent plant knowledge including botanical identification, climate/soil suitability and irrigation requirements.
  • Proven project management experience with a strength in managing multiple tasks including time, resources, budgets and quality control.
  • Ability to work autonomously on a day-to-day basis, whilst also working cooperatively with others to achieve project delivery goals.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in horticulture, project management or a related discipline would be highly regarded.

The position is full time, working a five-day Monday to Friday roster.

To be successful as a Plantmark Quotes and Orders Coordinator, you will have:

  • Sound knowledge in horticulture or a related field is desirable - but we'll provide industry training for the right candidate.
  • Experience in providing sales support and processing quotes.
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for customer service.
  • Time management skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to plan ahead.
  • Ability to work independently as well as contribute as a team member.
