Description:
Native, aquatic, perennial rush growing in wet, waterlogged soils in water up to 1m deep. It has shallow, spreading roots forming large dense swards and grows 1.5-2m high. Grey-green cylindrical foliage and brown flowers appearing during Spring and Summer. Valuable habitat for water birds.

Cultural Notes: Grow in aquatic habitat such as dams, deep swamps, lakes, creeks and constructed wetland treatment systems or drainage swales. Requires fresh, standing or very slow moving water. Mass plant at a rate of 5 to 7 per m2 (or roughly 50cm apart) in boggy ground or water up to 1m deep. Very low maintenance and long lived. May trim foliage back by up to a third if desired. Will tolerate short periods of dryness.
