Castanea sativa Emerald Gem

Large deciduous slightly weeping tree commonly known as the chestnut tree. Flowers are long yellow-white catkins followed by a large reddish-brown shiny fruit, that has a spiky green casing. Leathery green oblong leaves. Green casing splits open dropping nuts on the ground during Autumn. 'Emerald Gem' is a good mid-season variety with prolific crops.
