Beta vulgaris vulgaris

Beet is an exotic deciduous annual vegetable with a compact, rosette habit. Flowers are insignificant in appearance. Leaves form a basal rosette and are used for edible purposes along with the tuberous root. Commonly grown in vegetable gardens and allotments, it is suited to seasonal cropping and harvest. Also used in small-scale commercial production. Grows to approx. 0.6m H x 0.6m W.
