Description:
A hedging clumping bamboo that grows to roughly 3-4m in height. It grows very differently from traditional bamboo, with a very bushy, tufting habit with its foliage and does not naturally show the culms. Malay Dwarf Variegated has quite pretty, small white and green striped leaves and creates a feature hedge. It is an extremely dense fast growing, hardy bamboo and can achieve a privacy hedge in under 18 months. This bamboo makes a great privacy hedge, sound barrier and wind break. You can hedge it down to any preferred height and width. It is a great option for soil stability near a dam wall or creek line. It is also great to encourage little birds like finches to nest in your garden as they can create perfect nests inside the foliage. The shoots can be eaten on this variety.
