Description:
Densely foliaged, low maintenance evergreen tree growing to approx 12 metres. Was known as Casuarina stricta until the 80's. Has corky, rough bark and pendulous, needle like foliage that turns a rusty dark purple in May-June. Great shade tree and useful to screen if planted en masse. Used extensively as a street tree for its upright form and tolerance of compacted soils. Self mulching and frost hardy.
