Here’s an idea ~ if you need to screen a view along a narrow pathway between house and fence, construct two staggered screens at about 2 metres distance apart, one at 90° to the fence and another at the same angle from the building. Plant these with Edna Walling® Blue Bells™ and you’ll have a very manageable living screen without the overpowering effect that more vigorous climbers give. Veranda posts are softened with the delicate twining of Edna Walling® Blue Bells™ foliage, dotted with dainty purple-blue flowers in summer & autumn. Butterflies love them. Suitable for cool temperate to sub tropical climates in moist well drained clay or sandy loam of a neutral to low acid pH. Tolerates light frosts and near-coastal conditions. A very light trim is all that is needed, just now and again.
