How to Plant your Plants Successfully

STEP 1     >> ACTIVATE WATER CRYSTALS

Activate Water Crystals at least one hour prior to planting.
Place 10g (2tsp) of Crystals in a bucket and add 20ml (4tsp) Seasol and 10Lt water.

We suggest

STEP 2     >> SOAK PLANT IN WATER

Fill container/wheelbarrow with at least 50ml water and sit plants in for 10 minutes (still in pots).  This ensures the core of the plant is wet prior to planting.

STEP 3    >> IMPROVE THE SOIL

For Clay Soils – Add organic matter and gypsum to the soil.  Mix in well.
For Sandy Soils – Add organic matter to the soil. Mix in well.

We suggest

STEP 4    >> DIG A HOLE

Hole should be 2-3 times the width and depth of the pot and square in shape to reduce root coiling.

STEP 5    >> PLACE WATER CRYSTALS

Place activated Water Crystal solution (from Step 1) in the hole as per recommended dose:

Tubes    = 1tsp
14cm    = 1tbs
20 cm    = 1.5tbs
30cm    = 2tbs
40cm    = 3tbs

We suggest

STEP 6    >> PLANT THE PLANT/TREE

Remove plant from plastic pot and gently tease the roots.  Soften the soil in the bottom of the hole and place plant in a central position.  Back fill hole carefully.  Tamp lightly with your foot to remove air pockets.  Build a water basin around the plant/tree with excess soil.

HINT:
it is always best to use the soil on site.  Soil can be improved with organic matter.

STEP 7    >> WATER & FERTILISE

Water the plant/tree in well and 1-2 times per week until established.  Use a combination of Seasol and water.  Check Seasol pack for application rates.  Apply a suitable slow release fertiliser around plant/tree.

We suggest

STEP 8    >> MULCH

Apply mulch around the base of the plant to a depth of 75mm.

HINT:
Keep mulch clear of the trunk to avoid collar rot.

STEP 9    >> MAINTAIN THE PLANT/TREE

* Water deeply for the first year.  Water 1-2 times per week during dry periods.
* Prune after flowering.
* Feed with a suitable fertiliser in autumn and spring.
* Mulch annually to conserve water and assist with weed suppression.
* Healthy plants should have no pest and disease issues.
